Q: how and when do I give my cutting instructions for my order?
A: f you are buying your custom meat from a local farmer, as soon as they inform you that we have your animal. We would appreciate a call within 48 hours.
If you have bought directly from us then we will take your cutting instructions when you call to place your order. Your cutting instructions are a priority, so communication is important.
Q:I have never done this before, how will I know how to give cutting instructions?
A: When you call we will talk to you and explain everything to you.
Q: Will my meat be frozen when I pick it up and do I need to bring boxes?
A: Your meat goes directly to the freezer as soon as it has been cut. We like it to remain in our freezers for about 24 to 48 hours. Your meat will be in approximately 50lb boxes and all your packages will be clearly marked.
Q: How much room do I need in my freezer?
A: A quarter of a beef will take about 3-4 cubic feet of freezer space. Half a beef will take up about 6-7 cubic feet and a whole Beef 12-14 cubic feet.
Q: When will I know my order is ready for pickup?
A: You will receive a phone call, pick up date, and cost as soon as you order has been processed and in our freezers. We do understand the everyone has busy schedules, so you are given a few days to pick up your order. A storage fee may be added to your bill if your order is not picked up in a timely manner.
Q: What is a custom Slaughter facility?
A: A custom Slaughter facility is a facility that does not have a state or federal inspector on duty. Which means that the meat is not considered USDA.
Q: What does not being USDA inspected mean?
A: It means that the carcass is processed for the use of the owner and/or their customer. Beef can be sold as half, quarter or whole. Pigs, lambs and goats as a half or more. The packages will be marked NOT FOR SALE.
